Thanks to the lovely people at Cats' Protection, in July 2009 ago a fine old lady called Furby came in to our lives. The day we visited the centre and saw her hiding in her paper bag, we just knew she had to come home with us. Furbs had been in the shelter for a number of months largely owing to her age and the fact that she was completely blind. As such, Furby was going to have some additional needs - a fact apparent from the outset given the aforementioned paper bag and the hiding! We knew it would take a while for her to get comfortable with us and to settle in, but we just had to give this dear lady the home she deserved.
And what an incredible friend she proved to be.
We had her for three wonderful years - and they truly were wonderful. Furby was both a joy and a privilege to have. Sadly, at the beginning of May she passed away quietly due to age-related illness. We are still struggling to cope with the fact she is no longer here - that she not longer keeps us company on the couch, or chases at our feet every time we go to the kitchen - but we want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Cats' Protection who brought her in to our family for the all too short time that we had her. She made up a huge part of our lives and one that we are so grateful to have had at all.
Thanks to you all, Katie
